I'm grateful I learned to cook
at three in the morning I can enjoy
home made chocolate chip pancakes
in less time than it takes
driving to some waffle house and getting served
something golden brown pressed batter
masquerading as a waffle
from a sleepy waitress and a kid who can't cook
the easy way is never easy as it looks
